5Five’s ‘Gargantuan Body’ Banned

NEWS-ONE has confirmed that almost all television stations in Ghana have decided not to air the controversial music video of 5Five’s latest song, ‘Gargantuan Body’. Their reason was that the video’s contents have offensive images that violate their editorial policy and they cannot do anything about them. They basically tagged the video as nothing but a ‘soft porn’ video and have even refused to edit, blur or cut out the portions of the video they believe do not meet their editorial style. But the group’s representative, Bulldog of Bullhaus Entertainment, has downplayed the ‘soft porn’ claims in an interview with NEWS-ONE. “It is normal for any TV station to reject a music video, depending on many things including technicalities. But I don’t know ‘Gargantuan Body’ has been banned. But I can say we respect TV stations and their policies. We are having a few challenges with some of them and it is not new in this industry. Definitely one cannot just put his or her videos on air just like that. So we are in discussion with them. [I] will let you know what the issues are very soon. Now we can’t divulge anything else in public,” Bulldog noted. The video was shot sometime last year and was planned for release early this year. But its release has been delayed because of the challenges the group is having with television stations in accepting it on their platforms. The group has no choice but to take it on social network platforms including youtube.com while it further deliberates with the TV networks on the next step to take. ‘Gargantuan Body’ is a song that extols the body of plump women. The group, in the song, professes its love for such bodies; hence some ladies displayed their heavy buttocks for the cameras. That is what the TV stations apparently have problems with. According to NEWS-ONE sources, if TV stations have to edit the video for their platforms, they will have to edit the heavy buttocks parts out but that will also take away some excitement from the video.

Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Nominations Open

Aside from football, Music is undoubtedly one of Ghana’s biggest passions and no one event stirs up our passion be it joy, anger, frustration, excitement…you name it, other than the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Though it takes place at one particular time of the year, its impact is felt throughout the year as it serves as the barometer against which the Ghanaian music industry is measured. This year the event enters its 14th year and one cannot help but wonder what it has in store for us. A cursory look at last year’s music scene saw a lot of good releases which will make this year quite competitive with releases from R2Bees, 4X4, Eazzy, VIP, Kwaw Kesse, Stay Jay, EL, Lousika, D-Black, Keche, Herty Borngreat and other talented musicians, that enjoyed massive airplay and had the general public singing along to these songs. As we await the launch of this year’s event the nominations are currently open and collation of entries has started. According to the organizers, Premium event organizers Charterhouse, the month of January is being dedicated to the collection and collation of entries and research has already started. Record Labels, producers and artistes are therefore being invited to submit their entries to Charterhouse for entry into this year’s VGMA. So who makes it to the nomination list? Well I guess we will know in a few weeks time.

Sarkodie Accused of Using Designer’s Creations For His Clothing Line Without Permission

Obj Clothing and Accessories has expressed his dissatisfaction with the commercialization of his creations for rapper Sarkodie, without his consent. He revealed in an interview that he created the concept of a footwear called Obj Sark 1 for the rapper and presented it to him and his management team a year ago, but only recently found out in the media that the rapper had gone ahead to use the concept for his upcoming clothing line, Sarks Collection. He explained: “I don’t have a problem if Sarkodie and Sammy Forson decide to make their own label, but to copy my idea – the artwork of Sarkodie’s Head – without my consent means none of these guys respected me, my manager, my work and the copyright laws in Ghana. It was something I created and presented to them, with the sneaker I designed and produced called The ObjSark-1 a year ago (17-1-2012)” Jeremiah also revealed that after trying several times to get in touch of Sarkodie’s manager, Sammy Forson on the phone, when finally picked up his call he had nothing to tell the peeved Jeremiah. “I sent him a message on BBM and finally he responded. I confronted him about what I saw on the internet and he told me that Sarkodie himself designed that artwork; I was Like Wow! Now he has deleted me from BB”. According to Jeremiah, the development shows a lack of unity amongst Ghanaian artists and a lack of respect for intellectual property. He said that such behaviors stifle creativity especially amongst young and talented Ghanaians. “How can we build a sustainable society if we keep doing? My manager and I were thinking of a Sneaker/Trainer Company in Ghana using The Obj Sark 1 we made as a starting point. Hopefully this would have shown the way for many Ghanaians to believe in themselves and create a small industry within the country instead of ordering China made goods.” He concluded, “Let’s learn to keep our word because little ‘little’ disloyal relationships like these turn out to be bigger ones and at the long run, the whole country suffers. Let’s think and do things sustainably, a way that our society would benefit not one that divides us!”

When John Dumelo Didn’t Know Anything.....

10 Types of Women You Should Never Date

Although dating is not about putting people into categories, there are some personalities that just make a guy want to turn and run. If you steer clear of these 10 types of women, you’ll avoid some major headaches in the future. 1. The Chatterbox This is the woman who never shuts up, barely stopping to breathe. Seemingly only concerned about what is going on in her life, she always has to make a comment about everything and dominates conversations. 2. The Desperate Chick This type of woman will seem fantastic at first, until she starts talking about your wedding location, how many kids she wants and the name of your future dog–right after the first date! When a woman advances WAY faster than normal, watch out. She NEEDS a man so bad that she’s willing to put anybody in that slot, even the homeless guy on the corner. 3. The Overly-Critical Woman Anything you do for this type of woman is simply not good enough. Nothing seems to work unless it is done according to her standards. Anything that is said by anyone will be quickly taken out of context to become some sort of insult or some reason to wage war against the world. This type of woman has plenty of emotional baggage and will make you an angry and bitter person as there will be nothing but misery with her. 4. The Bimbo This type of woman can’t obtain a GED but has managed to secure a PhD in the science of the bedroom. This is an intellectually challenged woman who looks great but, in all honesty, shouldn’t open her mouth. Her skills are unquestionably only rooted in the physical realm and unless you’re just after one-night stands, you do not want to bring a stupid girl home to meet Mom and Dad. 5. The High Maintenance Chick If this type of woman breaks a nail, she expects you to drop everything you’re doing to drive her to the salon immediately. Her daddy always told her she was a princess and she expects to be treated like one at all times. She has expensive taste and expects you to shower her with only the best things and take her out to posh places on a regular basis. 6. The Clingy Girl This woman is a nuisance who can’t go anywhere or do anything without the company of her man. She’ll adopt your interests, calls 20 times a day and fly off the handle anytime she’s not around to monitor your behavior. This type of woman will smother any chance of you missing her by insisting that you spend every waking moment with her, refusing to let you go out with the boys or spend any significant amount of time with anyone else. 7. The Baby’s Mama This woman has a great physique, great personality and her toes are pretty too! There’s only one problem–she’s got a pretty large amount of children with assorted “baby-daddy’s”, and when women like this get desperate, any and every guy has the potential to be “daddy.” This woman got knocked up by somebody that she was supposedly in love with, and not only is she a bad judge of character, she’s GROSSLY irresponsible. The same guys that are “jerks” now are the same guys she once thought the world of and had unprotected sex with. 8. The Gold Digger The Gold-Digger will compliment you on your expensive watch, ask you what kind of car you drive, what you do for a living, where you live and so on. Like the high maintenance woman, the Gold Digger is basically looking for a sugar daddy, she’ll size you up within the first five minutes and drop you just as quickly if your cash flow runs out and you can’t take her shopping anymore. These types of women will just suck your wallet dry and leave you emasculated. Fortunately, you can usually see this type coming from a mile away. 9. The Club Girl Club girls are nothing more than fantasy women who have been practically living in bars and clubs since they hit the legal drinking age. They have beautiful faces with full lips, big doe eyes, great legs, and all the curves you could ever ask for. The problem in dating these women is that they love to wear clothes that show off their great assets not just to you, but to every Tom, man-hood and Harry on the street. A woman like this may be carefree and wild; however, once you take a closer look, you’ll realize that her entire life is a party and most nights will end with her puking in your car. 10. The Feminist This type of woman can never be pleased by a man and she believes that men are the cause of all the pains and suffering of society. It is her strong belief that women are much more intelligent than men and are capable of doing things “the right way”. You don’t want to waste any time with this type of woman because anything that you do will always be negative to her.

The wedding which has been tagged "The Wedding Of the year" will take place in Barbados while the traditional wedding will take place in Abuja. Excited friends of Mrs. Idibia took to their Twitter page Monday morning to announce the big news. Jacob's Cross lead actress/model Kendra Etufunwa was the first to tweet. Annie's manager then re-tweeted it. Rapper, Ice Prince's girlfriend and designer Yvonne Nwosu of Vonne Couture will design the wedding gown for the couple. The President with Swagg

John Mahama sips on a fresh Pineapple, in a fashion that easily give him away as a “Guy guy” (as used in local Ghanaian parlance) president. Today, January 7, 2013, is his “Our Day” (or if you would “My First Day At School”). He becomes President of Ghana for the next 48 months – a dream come true for a “post-independence young man” of his kind. You can’t blame him for trying to stay young. For a 55 year-old gentleman, trying to be posh, squares in, somehow. Cheers to another round of 48 diced Pineapples. And oh, cheers to more “guy guy” things!

Iyanya 'Kukere' Wanted By The Police

This is definitely not a good one for the Kukere crooner, Iyanya Mbuk who has become a toast of every music lover within and outside the shores of the country. The reason is because, the has been listed on the wanted list of the Police at Mile 3 Division, Port Harcourt, over a fraudulent act perpetrated by him. According to the story, the R&B singer turned Pop act Iyanya allegedly said to have defrauded popular show organizer of 'Nite Of A Thousand Laughs, Opa Williams of N1.7m being payment for the singer’s performance at two events. According to sources Iyanya was paid the said amount to perform at two ‘Nite of a Thousand Laughs‘ events which held in Benin and Port Harcourt. The Kukere singer missed both shows intentionally. The latter which was held three nights back, on New Year’s Day precisely, featured a performance from rapper Olamide and was hosted by Bovi. Guests had waited for the singer to step on stage and thrill as the highly publicized show had promised a performance from him but he was conspicuously missing Interestingly, Iyanya is believed to have traveled on the same flight (allegedly paid for by the show organizers) with Olamide and Bovi. Nigeriafilms.com gathered that the singer shunned Opa Williams’ event, performing instead, at another show in Omuma Local Government Area, also in Port Harcourt which also featured Timaya. "We were all disappointed, we waited in vain. As soon as Bovi announced he was not going to show up, everybody started leaving", a source who attended the event held at the open ground of the Hotel Presidential, PH said. Yesterday morning, sources say Policemen from the Nigerian Police invited Iyanya and his manager Ubi-Franklin Ekapong for questioning over the matter which was reported by the show organizers led by Opa Williams. The officers could only get Ubi-Franklin to station but Ubi said, "yes I was at the Police Station this morning, we have decided to return all money paid to us, it’s not a problem." Ubi further explained, "We were paid to attend and perform at the Benin and Port Harcourt shows but we missed both due to reasons beyond our control. We missed the Benin gig because we were in Ghana as at that time and we arrived pretty late for the PH gig. We however had issues with initial payment from the show organizers also, so we needed to forfeit one for another."

Davido Splits With Manager, Asa Asika

Davido and his manager, Asa Asika have gone their separate ways. Davido, 20, fell out with Asa, 22, after about two years together. Both parties decided to call it quit over some 'unsettled differences.' Information reveals that Davido's record label, HKN, might be responsible for the 'accelerated split' between them due to what we gathered to be connected to money-related issues between the parties. We further learnt that the split actually happened on Friday, December 28, 2012. It was also reported that HKN might have felt Davido needed a 'matured' management team to handle Davido's growing brand as against Asa's managerial power which, according to HKN, is believed to be 'immature'. The label has reportedly been sourcing for another management team for Davido with Yemi Energy likely to be Asa's successor.
